Instructions
The career search link in the menu allows you to search by name for any player in major league baseball's history.  His season and season and career statistics will be displayed.  The search by criteria option is similar for both pitchers and batters.  It allows you to find all players who have met certain criteria in a single season.  For example you can look for players who have hit 50 doubles between 1950 and 1975 or pitchers who have recorded 200 strikeouts or more since 2000.

There are two databases that are used to generate these pages.  The first is Sean Lahman's database and the second was compiled from the game logs from Retrosheet.
